For this lab, we created small model designs of wind turbines to see which designs gave us the best voltage.. We needed to either focus on HAWTS or VAWTS (which are horizontal and vertical axis wind turbines) we tried out eight different designs, one of them being a VAWTS, and the rest being HAWTS. We found that the shape that worked the best as a HAWTS was a pinwheel shape, which had the highest voltage out of all of the other designs. Our group then concluded that the pinwheel design worked well because it was small, compact, and the blades are designed so that wind can hit the pinwheel in any direction. We also presented a poster of the results in front of the class.
